As of 12th August 2026, the EU and Norway have introduced a new EPR compliancy requirement for all bodies importing into the EU.
EPR stands for Extended Producer Responsibility.
Of course I'm totally up for reducing packaging waste, microplastics and anything that protects our precious environment. As such, exporters now need to declare details of packaging BUT... exporters also need to be registered with each individual EU member state they export to and Norway if applicable.
- Registration needs to be completed separately for each EU member state and Norway.
- The cost of registration and the requiremenets vary between EU member states.
- A representative is required in each state and Norway if applicable.
It is with great regret therefore, that Plasma Music Limited will be suspending sales to the EU or Norway.
The EU and Norway could have made the application process so much easier. While the EU says publicly that all businesses are treated equally, the resources required for a small business to become fully EPR compliant in each EU country and Norway is the same that is required for large corporations to become fully EPR compliant in each EU country and Norway. It seems apparent therefore, that while a good idea, the implementation of EPR registration is almost designed to make life difficult and in some cases impossible, for artists, creators, hobbyists and micro-businesses.
