SERVICES (Technical) - Don't let the fact that you're unable to install one of my systems into your beloved piece of vintage equipment scare you off! I'm more than happy to do that for you. I also repair and service studio and live performance gear as well as renovate vintage synthesisers, signal processors and guitar amps.

If you're planning a relatively short or simple project, then you'll want an hourly rate. Select hours under 'Quantity'.

Modern, state-of-the-art recording equipment and some beautiful vintage synths and guitar / bass systems, is just scratching the surface. Being a musician / song-writer himself, Alex loves working with fellow musicians towards achieving the best possible results. Squeezing every ounce of juice out of his studio, he applies the same to the people he works with, often without them even being aware.

This service is for recording ONLY and does not include mixing and mastering. Please contact me to discuss if you require mixing and mastering. The same applies for video.

“Over the decades, I’ve had debates and even passionate arguments about DAWs, monitors, plug-ins, effects, guitar amps but at the end of the day, it all comes down to your senses. And your senses only get tuned with experience.

I don’t want my time wasted and I won’t waste anyone else’s time so sometimes it’s easier to stop and take a step back. People don’t do that anymore because time is money so more often than not, artists end up with recording perhaps not their best performance. That upsets me.

Now-a-days, many studios are very reliant on plug-ins and many engineers / producers have their ‘go-to’ patches. Yes, it’s quick and can even deliver impressive results but for me, that’s not what music is about, I’m afraid. My philosophy is to use as little compression, eq and effects, as possible and 99% of the time, I only use such processes to enhance an incredibly excellent take. I do NOT use processing to try to ‘mask’ a bad take or mix. What a waste of time!”
