CHANGES TO US IMPORT DUTY
Up until 29th August 2025, items entering the United States with a value of less than $800 were exempt from import duty. The discontinuation of the $800 de minimis exemption for all countries, means that ALL items are now subject to US import duty, irrespective of value. Duty on items from the United Kingdom is 10%.
To ensure that your purchase arrives quickly and without too much hassle, I've chosen to pay the duty via the courier that I use (usually Royal Mail) and as such, I've reluctantly had to split my 'US & Canada' shipping cost into two and increase my charges to the US.

SIMMONS SDS7 HEAVEN - Back in eighties, I was part of the Simmons team based in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England. A couple of years ago, I made the decision to get reengaged with my Simmons past and developed several peripherals for a few of those classic instruments. As it turned out, I designed a lot of bits 'n' pieces for the Simmons SDS7 specifically, so many in fact, that I decided to give the SDS7 its own category in my online store.
Pleiades is a 2-in-1 solution offering easy Ni-Cd to lithium battery and with the addition of a Tubbutec uniPulse, MIDI conversion of your Simmons SDS7.
Unlike Ni-Cd batteries, lithium batteries don't need regular recharging. A 3.6V AA LiSOCI2 battery will theoretically last for 150 years!
The voltage that's actually going to your SDS7's SRAM chips can easily be monitored by simply removing the SDS7 front panel and hooking up your digital multi meter to a pair of conveniently located terminals on Pleiades.
When the battery on your Pleiades will eventually need changing, a second battery holder allows you to drop in the new battery before removing the old one so you won't be putting your SDS7's memory at risk.
Always wanted a MIDI Simmons SDS7? Well now Pleiades also makes the installation of the Tubbutec uniPulse MIDI to trigger adapter into the Simmons SDS7, a breeze.
As with all my products, Pleiades doesn't require any holes to be drilled or any other drastic modifications to be made to your vintage equipment. Pleiades occupies a spare voice module slot (preferably slot 12) in your SDS7. The corresponding pad trigger input which is then redundant, is used for MIDI IN. If you every want to return your Simmons SDS7 back to factory, don't worry, it's easy.
Pleiades is fully compatible with my Dark Matter replacement power supply for the Simmons SDS7. Pleiades can be used in place of Dark Matter's battery-board, just by swapping one connection.

When ordering uniPulse from the Tubbutec website, ensure you request the uniPulse Pleiades kit comprising the following items:
- 1 x uniPulse PCB.
- 26-way IDC cable with IDC housings at both ends (approx. 30cm).
- 1 x MIDI header with red and black wires with no 5-way DIN socket (approx. 70 cm).
- SDSV / SDS7 firmware.
As of 7th May 2025, RESET-7 POR (Power-on-Reset) upgrade for the Simmons SDS7 can be purchased at a discount price when buying Pleiades.
RESET-7 is a power-on-reset upgrade which has the effect of extending the life of your new battery by replacing the original POR chip with a newer device that has a minimum operating voltage which is the same as the minimum memory retention voltage of the 6116 memory chips.
