PRODUCTS - With over forty years of electronic design and manufacturing experience, mostly in the audio industry, I still love taking on challenges and winning! For me, designing something and seeing it through to a commercial product, is as creative as writing and producing in the studio. Under this category,  you can browse through the things I make to help musicians, producers and engineers, along the way. 🙂

SERVICES (Technical) - Don't let the fact that you're unable to install one of my systems into your beloved piece of vintage equipment scare you off! I'm more than happy to do that for you. I also repair and  service studio and live performance gear as well as renovate vintage synthesisers, signal processors and guitar amps.

SERVICES (Creative) - I've been involved with studio and live music production, since 1985. It's my passion and I have a huge wealth of knowledge and experience. Product Details

Supernova is a modern modular switched-mode power supply for the Roland Juno-106. The design is based on modular implementation of high-specification AC / DC converters.

Supernova is the world's first switched-mode power supply for the Roland Juno-106. Easy to install, cool running, safe and reliable and VERY quiet, Supernova is optionally available with my Live Forever memory back-up battery mod'. Please note that if you choose the battery option, a battery is NOT supplied. It's difficult to post stuff with batteries so make sure you buy either a CR123 or a CR123a lithium battery.

Supernova comes with its own steel mounting plate which secures to the mounting points of the original transformer which means it's definitely not going to go anywhere!

Fully detailed, illustrated and printable installation instructions are available after purchase. If you miss the link, please don't hesitate to contact me and I'll send them out to you.

Supernova is hand-made by me in Hemel Hempstead, Great Britain. Units are built to order so please be patient although I will keep you updated on the progress of your order.

When your Supernova is ready to ship, you'll be e-mailed a Test Certificate / Certificate of Authentication.

Full user installation instructions available after purchase.

Supernova installation instructions are now available in German.

Die Installationsanleitung für Supernova ist jetzt in deutscher Sprache verfügbar.

Supernova is hand-built in Hemel Hempstead, United Kingdom.

UPDATE - 12th August 2023

Supernova was designed for the Roland Juno-106. While it will technically work in the Roland HS-60, the following points should be noted:

  • The power transformer in the Roland HS-60 is NOT the same as that in the Juno-106. It is larger and has an additional winding for the built-in power amp. Since Supernova’s base-plate is secured using the M4 lugs that the original Juno-106 transformer used, these holes will NOT line up.
  • Since the original transformer has to be removed so as to fit Supernova, power from the transformer to the power amp board needs to be cut. Supernova cannot supply power to the power amp board. Hence, your speakers will not work.

A NOTE ON PACKAGING – I believe and support recycling and try to do what I can. As such, if you’re buying items from me, please don’t feel disappointed with regards your packaging! It may not be new or branded (or shiny) but let’s face it, you’re only going to chuck it anyway.

A WORD ON SHIPPING COSTS

Annoyingly, my shopping cart software displays shipping information after you’ve confirmed your payment option. I’m trying to get this changed as I believe that customers should always know exactly what they’re paying. Of course, I have no control over import duties but I try my best to give clear, concise information.

I therefore maintain a ‘Shipping Prices’ page and visitors to my website who are interested in buying stuff, have the opportunity to check shipping costs to their country / region.

My shipping costs are calculated on item value and not weight as everything is insured.
